Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at drchesneydvm@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are excited to be currently pre-booking new clients!  At-home veterinary care is not right for every pet or right for every pet at all times.  Dr Chesney will contact you to discuss your pet and your current care needs before confirming an at-home exam. Dr Chesney is also happy to work with your "brick and mortar" primary veterinarian or specialists for complete care coverage. If urgent care is needed or a procedure/surgery, Dr Chesney will direct you to the proper ER or urgent care.

We expect to have online booking up and rolling shortly, for now- please email Dr Chesney directly

Not necessarily!  While the "office visit" might be more than you are used to paying, the pricing for vaccines and blood tests are quite competitive. You will receive a full estimate of all expected services before your first visit so you can make the right decision for your pet. There is a non-refundable $200 deposit for first time patients which will be applied to your first invoice.

Dr Chesney highly recommends and accepts all pet insurance.

Most likely yes to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Often a muzzle is needed to complete an exam safely.  I recommend training your pet to a basket muzzle so it is worn prior to arrival.  You can feed treats through the muzzle to keep the experience as positive as possible.

Many pets will not need to continue with sedatives (especially if they are muzzled) but some do better with them.  Please speak directly to Dr Chesney before your first visit.

For cats and small to medium dogs, it is very helpful if the owner purchases a small at-home scale. Dr Chesney may ask you to weigh your pet weekly or monthly if he or she is dealing with chronic illness or monitoring weight gain or loss.

Yes!  Telehealth is included with any patient who has had an in-person housecall visit within the past 6 months.  There are dedicated Telehealth appointments as well as daily times Dr Chesney is available via text to answer any questions, get updates or see your newest adorable pet photo!

Dr Chesney is currently not able to offer at-home euthanasia, imaging services (x-ray, ultrasound) nor procedures like surgeries.  She will refer you to the appropriate veterinary facility if your pet requires these.
